About Joshua Potgieter

Founder & Lead Designer | Argenteum Design

Joshua is a seasoned landscape designer with a lifelong passion for plants, people, and place. With deep expertise in planting design, hardscaping, softscaping, soil systems, irrigation, regenerative practices, and project management, Joshua brings a grounded, hands-on approach to every garden he creates.

His journey began in nurseries, where he built his foundational plant knowledge from the ground up. By the age of 21, he had launched his own permaculture business, leading regenerative food production projects and urban agriculture initiatives. His work has ranged from small residential gardens to large-scale, ecologically driven landscapes.

Joshua was awarded the Young Ecologic Award for his community outreach and education, training others to create sustainable systems with limited access to land- whether a balcony, backyard, or a multi-acre plot. This commitment to empowerment and ethical design remains central to his work.

With years of experience designing and managing residential and commercial landscapes, Joshua has a talent for combining ecological intelligence with aesthetic vision. His gardens are not only sustainable, indigenous, and site-responsive, but also deeply personal, shaped around how his clients want to live, feel, and connect with their space.

At Argenteum Design, Joshua leads each project with creativity, skill, and care, crafting original, functional, and beautiful outdoor environments that thrive.
